Exumas Again

We fueled in Staniel, and then headed north to Warderick Wells and the Exumas Land and Sea Park. We rode out another small front there before jumping back into the sound and going north to Allen’s Cays. After leaving the park and while still in the sound, Lynn reeled out her hand line and caught a nice dolphin fish (mahi mahi, Dorado). We were not set up to grill easily so she filleted it out and put it in the freezer.

Allen’s is home to the Bahamian Rock Iguana which exists nowhere else. The iguanas are protected and have been fed by visiting cruisers so often that they rush to the beach when you go ashore. Grapes are their handout of choice but we had only some broccoli. They adapted and gobbled it up. Because of the iguanas, dogs cannot go ashore at Allen’s so we upped anchor and sailed a few more miles to Ship Channel Cay. Toby got to do shore duty and the next morning, we head back to New Providence and Nassau to deal with the water pump issue.

Next: Nassau Again
