ABACOS

West End: We made our entry into the Bahamas at West End complete with a very bumpy ride across the Gulf Stream. The next morning however was beautiful and as we frequently are, we were up for this lovely sunrise. West End is being newly developed and the landscape is pretty sparse.

Great Sale: Our first anchorage. We stayed at this rough, uninhabited island for three days waiting for a front to pass. Yes another sunset but they are so pretty. This one is especially nice

Powell Cay: Like Great Sale an uninhabited island, but much nicer with long beaches where Toby could run. The island is crescent shaped with protection from Northeast through Southerly winds. This is a shot of the north end. The clouds indicate the weather but it is hard to see the choppy waters off the point. Stayed two nights to wait for weather.

Green Turtle Cay: A neat place with well protected anchorage, a nice small community called New Plymouth, and a couple of more upscale resorts at the other end. We stayed here while we waited for a new windlass from the U.S. and then caught a nice weather window to get through the Whale Cut and down to Marsh Harbor.

Marsh Harbor: A busy little town with nice people but not a lot of charm. We did enjoy buying a pound of conch salad from George the conch  man at a stand along the road not far from our marina. Here, our George waits for preparation to be completed.

Little Harbor: Perhaps our favorite place in the Abacos.
