NORTHBOUND SCENERY
Sunrise at Port Canaveral
Our first lock ever. Port Canaveral Lock from Port Canaveral to the Canaveral Barge Canal
We think of the ICW as narrow channels and wet lands. Sometime, however, it is broad rivers and inlets. This is the Coosaw River in South Carolina
One of our favorite stops is Georgetown, SC. This is the waterfront taken from our anchorage.
We see all manner of watermen gleaning their living from the ICW and surrounding waters. Here, crabbing is a family matter with the youngest waving at us while his father sorts the crabs and Granddad moves the boat to the next trap.
The bridge tender and friend wave at us as we pass Sunset Beach Pontoon Bridge. The oldest bridge on the ICW.
All along the ICW we sometimes share the water with tugs and barges. At the Class A inlets we share it with ocean going ships. This photo is in the Cape Fear River. We are fighting a current and struggling to maintain 4 knots while the ship moves up the channel at about 20 knots. We are as far right in the channel as we can get without risk of going aground. |
