INTERIOR

Many of the South African Prouts were sold as kits, complete hulls and decks, but interiors finished by the original owner and/or to their specifications. Ours was factory finished and so is one of the more or less standard layouts.

This first thing you see as you enter the boat is the Settee. There were three basic layouts on the Manta and Escale Prouts. Ours has the smallest settee and the most berths.

Looking from the settee aft toward the main hatch. The electric panel is to port, the freezer is to starboard.

The galley is down in the starboard hull. Looking aft is our normal guest cabin. While cruising with just the two of us, it serves as overflow storage.

Looking forward from the galley is a cabin with a V-berth. Unseen is a double berth running across. This cabin can sleep three, but we remove mattresses for the cruise this is our primary storage area.

We have a two burner stove top. A nice thing on a catamaran is that the stove does not have to swivel on gimbals.

Oven and Microwave are built in.

When we started our boat search, we said we wanted ice cubes in our drinks and fresh showers when we wanted them. We have more refrigeration than a lot of similar boats. This is our fridge.

The freezer is actually in the main saloon.

Each cabin has a small sit down vanity. The two aft cabins are mirror images of each other and the vanities are more usable than the forward cabin.

The master cabin.

The port hull holds the nav station. On the outboard side we set up computer station, owners manuals for equipment and tools and spares in cabinets below. On the inboard side is a slide out table with room for charts under the lifting top surface.

The head actually has a tub, but we can't imagine anyone on a boat using enough fresh water to fill it for bathing. Thus it becomes another storage area. In additions to fenders, lines, and cushions visible here, it holds scuba tanks, dog food, shade canvas, and extra shore power cord.

The head itself is quite large and the sink faucet is a pull out shower head. Not seen is an on demand water heater behind the door.
