YELLOW DINK & DAVITS

Excitement ran high in March of 2007. For years we have wrestled with stowing the dinghy for crossings and towed it many times in unfavorable conditions. We needed davits to ease stowing and launching the dinghy.

We had an unfortunate event when our trusty RIB dinghy was stolen from a storage facility near our house. We did research and went with a new design (at least new to us). It is an Advanced Cat from Advanced Marine Inflatables.

As of this time, we haven't used it but here are some early pictures of boat and davits. Click on the thumbnails for larger views.

She is a catamaran dinghy. Sitting still in the water it won't be apparent. Motoring however, she is supposed to get up on a plane with less power,  go faster, and be more stable than a typical hard bottom inflatable (RIB)

We tried a new product to get neater looking registration and name plates. We found boatnumberplates.com through a comment on the Cruisers' Forum and decided to give them a try. So far we are quite happy with the results. They glue on like a patch so should be fairly permanent. The certainly look neater than most of the paint on or stick on numbers we have seen.

A family naming contest yielded the name Chase Boat submitted by our granddaughter Georgia. The name is neat on many levels especially since we have a grandson named Chase.
